ok. so I feel like this passage is the most quoted favorite passage of everyone in the world who doesn’t believe any of the rest of the Bible.

Everyone always stops right after the first couple of words. Don’t judge..

Jesus isn’t telling us to not make any kind of judgements at all, he’s warning us about judging harshly and hypocritically. In fact, he says that the manner in which we judge, will be applied to us by God. He makes the joke about having a huge log sticking out of your own eye while you’re trying to get the sawdust out of your friends eye. It makes for a silly picture. I like Jesus’ humor.

He’s telling us to first humble ourselves and realize our own sin before we go around pointing out other peoples sins. THEN he even tells us that once we’ve humbled ourselves, we can help our brothers by pointing out their sin and addressing it.
